About Me
My journey so far
Creativity has been the constant thread running through my life. I’m Zin Zin — a writer, musician, actor, director, and performance poet who has spent years exploring the world through words, sound, and storytelling. I’ve written books and poetry, played in bands, and toured across the globe, always chasing the next spark of expression.
My journey into visual art began during the Covid lockdowns. What started as a way to pass the time quickly became an obsession. I would disappear into my home studio for hours, completely absorbed, only resurfacing when the light faded and I realised I hadn’t eaten all day. That deep immersion — that feeling of being transported — still drives my work.
I’m drawn to the beauty in the broken. Repurposing discarded objects is one of my greatest joys, and you’ll often find fragments of old electricals, toys, or forgotten trinkets woven into my pieces. Whether I’m embellishing a mannequin, building a collage, or selecting images for decoupage, the process is always therapeutic. Creating is where I feel most grounded.
My studio is rarely a solitary place. My 20‑year‑old cat, Sophie, is a frequent companion, supervising from her favourite spot. When I’m not making art, I unwind by caring for my two snakes and eight spiders — creatures that bring a surprising sense of calm and balance to my life.
Art, in all its forms, is how I make sense of the world. It’s how I connect, how I heal, and how I continue to reinvent myself.
